Henrik Fisker, chairman and CEO of Fisker Inc, has previewed a new image of the US car-maker's upcoming pure-electric Alaska pick-up truck ahead of its unveiling later this year.
The single image, posted on his Linkedin profile, follows a tweet last year of the Fisker Alaska's rear-end that was removed shortly after, presumably by Fisker's PR team who did not want the company's rival to the Ford F-150 Electric and the Tesla Cybertruck to be seen ahead of its official debut.
Interestingly, the new post featuring the Alaska remains posted and is captioned with the claim that Fisker is readying the "lightest, most sustainable, most efficient EV pick-up in the world!"
The US brand's CEO also stresses that the image is just a teaser and that the real truck will be "way more radical" – which is saying something, as the new battery-powered pick-up features some sharp styling that shows it will be clearly related to the Fisker Ocean SUV that is also about to be launched.
Other take-aways from our first glimpse of the Alaska is its rear load bed looks short, hinting it will target lifestyle buyers, rather than people who use their pick-up for work.
Set to be based on the same platform architecture underpinning the Ocean, the Alaska will almost certainly share the SUV's 80kWh lithium-ion battery that will provide it with a 480km range.
The Fisker Ocean is tipped to come to Australia in due course and, by extension, the Alaska ute would be in the same boat.
Details, price and timing are not yet known, but expect more later this year.
