Californian PHEV specialist Fisker has recruited one of Europe's biggest retail conglomerates for sales, service and marketing across the continent.
The Swiss-based Emil Frey Group runs more than 100 showrooms in Switzerland, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland.
The deal adds Fisker to Emil Frey's already huge list of client marques: Alfa, Aston-Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Daihatsu, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, Hummer, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Lancia, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, MINI, Mitsubishi, Opel, Piaggio, Saab, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota and Volvo.
Alongside agreements with 45 dealers across the US, Fisker has already signed distribution deals with Denmark's Nellemann Group and GP Supercars in Italy. It is reportedly working on similar deals in China.
The company's first model, the Karma, is set to reach US showrooms mid 2010 with an US$87,900 price tag.
Spokespeople have told media it expects to sell about half its first build of 15,000 units overseas.
The Karma is initially being built by Finnish company Valmet Automotive, although Fisker has said it plans to repatriate production to the US when it can.
In October it assumed control of a former GM plant in the US state of Delaware, which it plans to refurbish as a production base for a second, mass market-oriented model due for release in 2012.
