Fisker Project Ronin previews new four-door electric GT
Next-gen American EV targeting world production-car range record – plus high performance and comfort for fourAmerican EV specialist Fisker has teased its upcoming electric grand tourer, currently known as ‘Project Ronin’.
Releasing a single cryptic teaser image overnight, the Project Ronin vehicle looks to borrow a few cues from the Fisker Karma sports sedan of 2012, including its basic silhouette and front wing lines.
Designed as something of a four-door coupe, the resulting production car is intended to be the world’s longest driving EV in terms of range when it makes its global debut in the third quarter of next year.
With production due to start in the latter half of 2024, Fisker Automotive founder and CEO Henrik Fisker said he told his engineers to “use the most advanced, lightweight materials and focus on range, performance and overall driving experience” during the design and development stages.
“The aim is to achieve the world's longest range for a production EV, combined with extremely high levels of performance,” he said.
“Project Ronin will be a showcase for our internal engineering, powertrain, and software capabilities.”
Active aerodynamics and the latest battery technology will be key to achieving these goals while the brand’s sustainability priorities will also be on full display through the vegan interior and minimum-impact materials sourcing.
When it eventually launches, the renamed Project Ronin GT will join the Fisker Ocean electric SUV and upcoming Fisker PEAR electric crossover – both of which are now open for reservation by US customers.
