Fledgling pure-electric car-maker, Fisker, has issued another tease of the new SUV that it hopes will steal sales from the Hyundai Kona EV and the forthcoming Tesla Model Y.
A new image posted over the weekend shows a front three-quarter view of the boxy SUV that unveils its squared-off wheel arches and huge six-spoke 22-inch alloy rims.
Created to offer buyers an SUV with a range of 500km and a low (for an EV) price of just US$40,000 ($A55,000), the as-yet-unnamed high-riding pure-electric vehicle developed by Fisker is the car that's tipped to take the US premium brand mainstream.
Designed by Henrik Fisker, the man responsible for penning the BMW Z8, the latest SUV is set to be on sale in the US in the second half of 2021 with sales in other global markets to follow shortly thereafter.
Claimed to "reinvent the SUV", the Californian-based car-maker is set to benefit from advanced solid-state battery technology that takes a fraction of the time to fully charge compared with today's lithium-ion cells.
Like its rivals, the Fisker SUV will feature all-wheel drive and have two electric motors, one to drive each axle.
As well as an SUV, the US car-maker says it will also introduce a luxury sedan to battle cars like the Tesla Model S.
Despite its grand ambitions of stealing a march on Tesla and more mainstream brands who are introducing pure-electric vehicles, Fisker currently only employs 100 people but has plans to rapidly expand its workforce in the near future.
The car-maker says it is also evaluating a new manufacturing facility where it hopes it will build the pure-electric SUV.
