Five car related films coming soon to cinemas

We love heading out to the cinema, or the drive-in, for a fun night out of the house.

With so many new and reimagined films hitting the silver screen, we thought we would dig through them all and put together a list of car related films set to hit cinemas in the next 12 months or so. Date night sorted.

The Art of Racing in the Rain

The Art of Racing in the Rain is based on the best-selling novel by Garth Stein and is a heartfelt tale narrated by a witty and philosophical dog named Enzo, voiced by Kevin Costner. Through his bond with his owner, Denny Swift, an aspiring Formula One driver, Enzo gains insight into the human condition and understands that the techniques needed on the racetrack can also be used to successfully navigate life. The film follows Denny and the loves of his life - his wife played Amanda Seyfried, their young daughter, F1 and of course, his best friend, Enzo. A super cute film with a racing twist, what's not to love?

The film is in Australian cinemas from October 2019

Ford v Ferrari

The new Ford v Ferrari film stars Matt Damon as Carroll Shelby, the legendary automotive designer tasked with building a race car to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans – a race which was then, and still is today, one of the most prestigious titles in the motor racing world. The film also stars Christian Bale who plays Ken Miles, a British engineer and race driver who joins Shelby to build the Ford GT 40 race car which is first raced in 1964. Henry Ford II was bitter that Enzo Ferrari pulled out of a deal in 1963 to join forces, so he tasked Shelby to build a racecar that could beat the famous Italian brand, which had won the 1960, 1961, 1962 and 1963 races.
