With so many new, reimagined and sequels hitting cinemas and streaming screens, we thought we would dig through them all and put together a list of car related films set to hit cinemas in the next 12 months or so. Date night is sorted.
It’s a story as old as time itself…A Brooklyn Plumber named Mario travels through the Mushroom Kingdom with a Princess named Peach and an Anthropomorphic Mushroom named Toad to find Mario's Brother, Luigi, and to save the world from a ruthless fire-breathing Koopa named Bowser.
This animated big-screen adaptation of the iconic Nintendo game is being produced by the makers of Despicable Me and the creator of Mario himself, Shigeru Miyamoto. Chris Pratt voices Mario, the world’s most famous plumber, who arrives in the Mushroom Kingdom and meets Keegan-Michael Key’s Toad. Anya Taylor-Joy is also on board as Princess Peach, while Jack Black will voice Bowser, Seth Rogen plays Donkey Kong, and Charlie Day will play Luigi.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie will hit Australian cinemas April 5, 2023.
The Fast franchise started back in 2001 with The Fast and the Furious and since then, has exploded into a mega-blockbuster series. 2023's Fast X will serve as the first step to concluding the franchise, with Fast & Furious 11 set to conclude the main series in 2024. While the plot is still being kept under wraps, it’s understood that Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and the rest of the Toretto clan will be back to do their thing.
Fast X will hit Australian cinemas May 18, 2023.
The latest instalment in the
franchise takes another step back in time after the 1980s-set Bumblebee, this time heading back to the ‘90s as a pair of archaeologists stumble into a three-way conflict between different factions of Transformers. The Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons robots that transform into animals. The film is loosely based on the Beast Wars storyline with Peter Cullen reprising his role as the voice of Optimus Prime.Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will hit Australian cinemas June 8, 2023.
A biographical film adaption of a true story based on the iconic PlayStation game Gran Turismo. The film is the ultimate wish-fulfilment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player, Jann Mardenborough played by Archie Madekwe whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race car driver. The film also stars Orlando Bloom and Spice Girl (and wife of F1 Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner) Geri Halliwell Horner.
Gran Turismo will hit Australian cinemas August 10, 2023.

A biopic of automotive mogul Enzo Ferrari, whose family redefined the idea of the high-powered Italian sports car and practically spawned the concept of Formula One racing. The film stars Adam Driver as Enzo Ferrari and the story follows the life of the Italian driver and entrepreneur in 1957 as he deals with family problems while also preparing for the 1957 Mille Miglia. The film also stars Penélope Cruz as Laura Ferrari and Patrick Dempsey as Piero Taruffi.
Ferrari is expected to hit Australian cinemas in late 2023.
