Love cars and don’t have any plans this weekend? Here are some family-friendly events everyone will enjoy

If you’re in desperate need of something fun and car-related to do this weekend, we might be able to help.

From race cars to coffees and car shows, there are plenty of things for car-lovers to do on the eastern side of the country over the next few days.

Here are a few ideas.

Melbourne – Compello Versus “All In”

Dubbed by organisers as ‘Australia’s biggest car expo’, Compello Versus is on this weekend (April 20-21, 2024) at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

It’s JDM & Euro versus Holden & Ford, with more than 300 display cars to drool over, as well as meet and greets with big Aussie names like Troy Candy and Dan Rue.

Don’t let the Gee Up bar, DJs, and Compello dancers put you off bringing the little ones, with a kids area and the promise of meeting Lightning McQueen!

Tickets are available online now.

Your lounge – Formula 1 and Supercars

If you want some motorsport action without leaving the house, you’re in luck, because the F1 circus is in Shanghai this weekend for the Chinese Grand Prix and it’s on Fox Sports and Kayo, for your viewing pleasure.

Supercars more your vibe? Ready to watch Brodie Kostecki make his comeback? It’s all on at the 2024 ITM Taupu Super400 in New Zealand. This is where you can view the Supercars action.

Sydney Motorsport Park – Hi-Tec Oils Super Series Round 1

Fuji 86 Style 002 Drifting

Back on home soil, those in the Sydney region can enjoy some good old-fashioned live motorsport on Friday and Saturday (April 19-20), with the first round of the Super Series on at Sydney Motorsport Park.

From drift cars to muscle cars, Formula RX8 to the Australian (Hyundai) Excel Series, there’s plenty of on-track action, right the way through to Saturday night, under lights.

Gold Coast, Queensland – Down Shift

Presented by the crew at Down Shift, Night Shift Gold Coast is on from 4pm this Sunday (April 21) at the Carrara Markets offering a DJ, food, drinks, promo girls, and ‘rad’ cars.

All types, shapes, and makes of cars are welcome for what’s said to be a chilled afternoon for like-minded people to mingle. Entry is $10 per person or free under 13.

North Sydney – Machines and Macchiatos

If a slow(er) paced Sunday morning coffee run is more your vibe, why not check out some seriously cool cars while you’re at it?

Everyone is welcome at the Northern Beaches Christian School in Terrey Hills on Sunday (April 21) from 8am-10am, for barista-made coffee, great food, and the promise of ‘loads of awesome machines’.

There’s also raffles with plenty of prizes to be won, with all funds raised going to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation and Bear Cottage charities.
