Five famous films featuring Ferraris

Ferraris and fashion go together like, Ferraris and film. Fantastically.

The Reigning Men: Fashion in Menswear 1715 – 2015 exhibition at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum has put the spotlight on some of the world’s most iconic menswear designers and fittingly, the famed Italian car brand Ferrari features as part of the exhibition which covers over 300 years of style history.

A version of the famous Ferrari Atelier studio has been created where you’ll be encouraged to create your very own personalised Ferrari Portofino, giving museum goers a unique look into the process behind the custom build of a Ferrari. For most of us, it's the closest we'll get to owning one.

Also part of the exhibition is a series of classic film screenings featuring; you guessed it, films featuring Ferraris. Here’s a list of our favourite Ferrari flicks.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

Ferrari 250GT SWB California Spider. Less than 100 of these cars were ever made. The one in the film (they used three) was actually a replica, and the ones which were not destroyed by character Cameron Frye are being auctioned off this year.

Le Mans

Ferrari 512S. The 1971 film depicting a fictional race of the world famous Le Mans 24 hour stared Steve McQueen. The scene of the crash of the Ferrari 512 was actually a remote-controlled Lola T70 made up to look like the Ferrari.

Against All Odds

Ferrari 308 QV GTSi. It is the classic rivalry of Ferrari vs Porsche in this film with Jeff Bridges and James Woods character's battling it out with a high intensity race through Los Angels.

Scent of a Woman

Ferrari Mondial T Cabriolet. From behind the wheel of a Ferrari Mondial T Cabriolet, blind retired lieutenant-colonel Frank Slade (Al Pacino) takes a thrilling joyride through the streets of New York as his prep school friend Charlie (Chris O’Donnell) helps navigate. HOO-aahh!

Goldeneye

Ferrari F355 GTS. James Bond encounters Xenia Onatopp who is driving the F355 GTS which belongs 'to a friend' in the French countryside on the way to Monte Carlo. The two race along the winding roads in a thrilling chase.

The Reigning Men: Fashion in Menswear 1715 – 2015 exhibition at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum runs until October 14th, 2018.
