Faster Jaguar I-PACE SVR happening
High-performance pure-electric SUV will benefit from a pair of more powerful electric motors and knowhow gathered from eTrophy race carsJaguar Special Vehicle Operations' (SVO) boss, Michael van der Sande, has confirmed that it will soon offer a faster Jaguar I-PACE SVR.

, van der Sande said a higher-performance version Jaguar's electric SUV was a question "when, not if". The SVO chief acknowled an I-PACE SVR was in the product plans but refused to reveal when it will arrive.SVO already creates a faster version of the I-PACE but it's for the racetrack, with specially prepared versions of the battery-powered SUV built to compete in the Jaguar I-PACE eTrophy race series.
According to can der Sande, the I-PACE SVR will benefit from Jaguar's participation in motorsport.
"The battery’s duty cycle is very different in racing. We’ve already learned plenty about battery management, heat management and software development that could be useful for road cars. When the call comes, we’ll be ready," he said.
As well as better battery management, the I-PACE SVR is set to gain two more powerful electric motors.
That means the plug-in performance flagship will produce far more than the regular I-PACE's 294kW/696Nm and be quicker than the current model, which already takes just 4.8 seconds to hit 100km/h.
To help it cope with the extra performance served up by its beefier twin electric motors, the all-wheel drive I-PACE SVR will get bigger brakes, a unique chassis tune and revised aero that will offer real downforce at high speed.
So far this year, Jaguar claims it sold more than 9000 I-PACE models globally in the first half of 2019.
