F&M Evantra supercar revealed

Bespoke Tuscan car-maker provides the first proper look at its upcoming mid-engined supercar

Late in 2011 Italian niche manufacturer Faralli and Mazzanti (F&M) released a few shadowy teaser images its all-new mid-engined supercar, which at the time was being referred to as the Mugello.

Now the boutique carmaker has issued the first high-quality images of the car, and announced that it will be badged the Evantra (not to be confused with Hyundai’s Elantra).

As previously reported, F&M plans to build just five examples a year, with pricing yet to be announced. The focus will be on handcrafting and personalisation, with customers able to opt for either hand-beaten aluminium bodywork, or carbon composite panels.

The Evantra will be offered with a 3.5-litre flat-six engine (not yet known whether it's Porsche derived) in naturally aspirated and turbocharged configurations, with the former pumping out 293kW, and the latter kicking out a prodigious 438kW.

F&M quotes a 0-100km/h split of 3.7 seconds for the turbo Evantra, which certainly puts it in the right ballpark if the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 and Ferrari 458 Italia are used as benchmarks.

The accompanying images reveal an aggressively styled coupe and it has to be said the car looks better than the teaser pics led us to believe.

The only question is whether it has enough allure to entice well-heeled punters to part with half a million dollars or more, which is what we estimate the car will cost.
