The Ford Bronco Raptor has once again been previewed as part of the build-up to its 2022 debut, and this time we get to see the lightly disguised version at home in the dirt.
Tested by The Bronco Nation, our first glimpse of the Baja 1000-ready off-roader reveals how the Raptor version differs from the regular SUV.
And the changes look significant, from its wider front and rear bodywork to new enlarged wheel-arches that house new rims shod with huge 37-inch off-road tyres.
It's also clear how much higher the 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor sits compared to the regular model, with the Bronco blog confirming standard fitment of a high-lift kit that's likely to feature a desert racer-derived suspension set-up.
Other changes include 'FORD' script on the blacked-out grille and a set of new graphics for the tail-lights.
Under the bonnet, The Bronco Nation suggests the regular Bronco's 231kW/542Nm 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 will be dropped for the Ford F-150 Raptor’s 335kW/691Nm 3.5-litre V6.
It's also rumoured the latest Ford Explorer’s 272kW/515Nm 3.0-litre V6 could also be uprated for the Bronco Raptor.
As is the case with the regular Ford Bronco, the Raptor version won’t be offered in Australia through official factory distribution channels because there are no plans to produce it in right-hand drive.
