Ford Australia is offering an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Las Vegas as part of its continuing countdown to the local launch of the new Mustang next year.
Announced via its Facebook page, Ford Australia’s ‘Ultimate trip to Vegas’ competition does not include the chance to win a new Mustang… but it does offer economy airfares for two, accommodation in Vegas, attendance at the Mustang’s 50th anniversary celebration on April 17, a Grand Canyon sunset helicopter tour with dinner and all transfers, plus $2000 spending money.
Entries close on April 4 and all you have to do is photograph or record a video of your favourite Australian road.
“Route 66 has been synonymous with the Mustang since the ‘60s,” says Ford on its Facebook page. “We can’t bring Route 66 to Australia, but we are bringing the Mustang in 2015!
“What is Australia’s ‘Route 66’ and where would you drive the new Mustang? Snap a pic or record a video of a great Australian road and you could win the ultimate trip to Las Vegas.”
Accompanying the competition is a graphic of a Mustang travelling along North America’s famed Route 66 and then past Uluru on the Stuart Highway, the Big Banana on the Pacific and the Big Merino on the Hume.
Ford confirmed last August that it will officially introduce the Mustang in Australia next year, before its world debut in five locations around the world including Sydney in December.
As we also reported then, Ford’s sixth-generation pony car will be available Down Under from 2015 in fastback coupe and convertible forms, powered by 227kW/407Nm 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and 313kW/529Nm 5.0-litre V8 engines with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
While pricing for the EcoBoost turbo-four could start from under $45,000, expect the V8-powered GT, which also adds bigger brakes and wider 19-inch rear alloy wheels, to cost close to $60,000.
The new Mustang is now on sale in the US and enters right-hand drive production mid-year, before first Australian example arrive in mid-2015.
