Ford Fiesta ST and Puma ST get 191kW Mountune boost

British tuner launches performance packs for Puma ST and Mk8 Fiesta ST, with up to 191kW on offer

Mountune has launched a pair of new tuning kits for the 2021 Ford Puma ST and latest Mk8 Ford Fiesta ST that boosts power from the standard 147kW and 290Nm to a thumping 190kW/365Nm.

Almost matching the more expensive 192kW Toyota GR Yaris for power, the Essex-based British tuner has not released any performance claims for either the 2021 Ford Fiesta ST or Puma ST fitted with the m260 kit, but Yaris is expected to still be quicker off the line, thanks to its all-wheel drive.

A second m235 upgrade is also available for the Puma. Already offered on the Fiesta ST, m235 raises the total output of the small SUV to 173kW/350Nm.

In the UK, the power upgrade, which includes an induction kit, charge kit and intercooler, costs just £675 ($A1230). Owners who have previously upgraded their Fiesta ST with the m230 or earlier m225 kit will be charged just £99 ($A180) for the more powerful engine re-map.

As well as more power, both kits are also said to enhance the exhaust noise, introduce a more aggressive launch control and a new anti-theft mode.

Both the factory-fit particulate filter and catalytic converter remains in place and undisturbed.

There's no official word on how the extra power and torque affect fuel consumption and emissions.

“The Fiesta ST is a platform that we already know well from our m225 and m235 power upgrades, but m260 really improves this already impressive vehicle even further," said Mountune's founder David Mountain.

"Fiesta ST owners are a dedicated bunch who love getting as much performance as they can out of their cars, and we can’t wait to start delivering our latest power upgrade to them.”

Owners who upgrade with Mountune can update or alter their engine calibration using the tuner's own Smartphone or tablet app. This handy feature allows users to de-tune their car if the recommended 97 octane petrol is not available.

It's unlikely Ford Australia will officially import the new Mountune packs, but they could be offered via specialist tuners.
