Ford gets SEMA-crazy with four new F-150 concepts

Blue Oval teams up with some of the best customisers in the States to create wild new pick-ups that includes 560kW supercharged SuperCrew

Ford has teased sketches of the four wild F-150 concepts it plans to unveil at next month's SEMA custom car show in Las Vegas.

All heavily modified for the show, the first F-150 was created in co-operation with Californian Ford tuner Bojix Design. Based on an F-150 SuperCrew, the Bojix's pick-up has been created to be the ultimate off-roader. Featuring a high-lift kit that now towers nearly 180mm higher than the standard truck thanks to its 22-inch wheels and 37-inch tyres.

Elsewhere the big Ford features plenty of bespoke parts including custom-made bull bar and bash plates.

Under the bonnet it's not known how much power the Bojix F-150 pushes out but its standard twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 now comes with larger Borg Warner turbochargers.

The next F-150 sharing space on the Ford stand is the F-150 4x4 Lariant SuperCrew which trades its V6 for a larger supercharged 5.0-litre V8. Again, power figures have not been released but the concept should be significantly faster than the standard truck. Created for BMW riders the Lariant features wide-flared wheel arches and, presumably, plenty of space in the rear bay for lots of bikes.

The third F-150 is the work of Oregon-based Hulst Customs who already specialise in tuning Ford trucks. Called the EraThr3, the pick-up, again a SuperCrew, rides low on air suspension and runs on huge 26-inch rims. Under the bonnet, again, instead of a V6 turbo there's a supercharged V8 that, Hulst claims, pushes out an incredible 560kW.

The last F-150, called the 4x4 XLT SuperCab, has been created for the show by Ohio truck cap and tonneau specialists. Painted in gold and grey the final truck comes with a high-lift kit, large 24-inch wheels and an auto lift truck cap that's said to reveal a large screen TV.

Expect more teases from Ford and plenty of other car-makers as the world's biggest custom car show approaches.
