Ford Australia has commenced deliveries of its new Transit Bus, aiming the 12-seater at government departments, schools and the travel industry.
Priced at $57,680, the Transit Bus is powered by the 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel rated at 114kW and 385Nm, matched to a six-speed manual transmission. Seats are laid out with three in front and a 2-3-4 configuration behind. According to the company, the seating leaves plenty of room for luggage, aft of the fourth row.
Ford has bumped up the GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) from 3550kg to 4100kg. That GVM ensures the Transit Bus can be driven by operators on a standard passenger-vehicle licence.
Standard features for the Transit Bus comprise SYNC with emergency assistance, cruise control, leather-bound multifunction steering wheel, idle-stop system, trailer sway control and heated electric door mirrors.
Additional safety features include airbags for driver and front passenger (with side-impact and side curtain airbags too), emergency brake assist, hill launch assist, torque vectoring/curve control and roll-over mitigation.
Only two colours are available: Frozen White and Moondust Silver (a $500 option).
"Ford has a Transit model to suit many applications and the arrival of the Transit 12-seat bus further expands the opportunities in this segment," Ford Australia President Graeme Whickman was quoted saying in a press release.
"The Transit 12-seat bus presents a great option for customers who require an economical, well-equipped and comfortable bus who make a living moving groups on trips big and small."
