Ford has announced it will offer a new Ford Mustang California Special for European buyers, including its right-hand drive UK market.
Joining the Mustang GT and Mustang Mach 1 currently on sale, the 2022 Ford Mustang California Special will be only offered on the convertible version of the Blue Oval brand's pony car.
Claimed to be "channelling the spirit of the iconic 1968 original", the new special-edition for Europe has actually been on sale in the US for the past four years.
Highlights of the model include a new honeycomb front grille, lower side skirts finished in grey, a larger front splitter and the option of rear side air scoops.
Other cosmetic changes include special 19-inch rims that are finished in 'Carbonised Grey' – the same finish used on the splitter, diffuser and side skirts.
Finally, the California Special gains retro CT/GS badges and a faux rear filler cap.

Within the California Special there's a grey suede Miko trim used on the seats and door cards, as well as aluminium across instrument cluster.
CT/CS logos reappear on the seats and floor mats while each limited Mustang gets a Mustang California Special plaque.
As standard, the fast Ford drop-top comes with the car-maker's SYNC 3 infotainment system. Adaptive cruise control and with lane keep assist are also included.
Under the bonnet the GT/CS comes equipped with the 5.0-litre V8 that produces 331kW and 529Nm of torque. With the six-speed manual fitted (now with rev matching), the limited-edition Mustang sprints from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds.
With the 10-speed auto the same dash takes just 4.5sec.
Mirroring the Mustang Bullitt, the GT/CS comes with a limited-slip differential, although the MagneRide dampers remain an option.
Available in nine paint finishes, including the Cyber Orange pictured, the Ford Mustang California Special costs £52,105 ($A93,500) in the UK, which amounts to a small premium of around $A1200 compared to a regular Mustang GT Convertible.
