Ford Mustang Dark Horse RTR teased
Flagship Ford Mustang will serve as the poster child of RTR Automotive’s new S650-generation packagesRTR Vehicles has teased the reveal of the upcoming 2024 Ford Mustang RTR Spec 2 via its Instagram page, previewing both the illuminated grille and the new S650-generation Ford Mustang Dark Horse that’s set to serve as its donor vehicle.
The original teaser image was posted at the weekend but has since been backed up by the emergence of a reel, giving us a live-action version of the still and a closer look at the signature grille.
RTR Mustangs – and every other Ford model tweaked by the tuning house – have long been identified by their illuminated grilles, which integrate a pair of LED driving lights into the outer elements to accentuate the donor vehicle’s stance, hinting at the myriad upgrades that could be hiding under the skin.
Like most aftermarket firms, RTR offers its upgrades in a series of tiered packs that become increasingly elaborate and advanced the higher the number goes.
The previous-generation Mustang Spec 1 pack, for instance, comprised a series of cosmetic upgrades with a couple of chassis tweaks to improve the S550 Mustang GT’s stance and dynamics, whereas the Spec 2 package upped the ante further with adjustable suspension components.
Step up to the Spec 3 pack and RTR added a Whipple supercharger kit, while the flagship Spec 5 threw in a bunch of other performance-enhancing chassis mods and a unique interior.
The tuning house is unlikely to change the tried-and-tested structure of its Mustang product line, so it’s safe to assume the 2024 Mustang RTR Spec 2 will build on the Mustang Dark Horse’s flagship credentials with a meaner aesthetic and suspension upgrades including lowered springs, upgraded dampers and beefier sway bars.
The reveal of the new RTR Mustang will take place on May 24 in Orlando, Florida, and should serve as a preview as to what local Mustang fans and modifiers can expect locally from RTR Vehicles, given its parts and upgrade packages are available here via Mustang Motorsport.
For reference, the new Ford Mustang is due to arrive Down Under in the latter part of this year.
