Ford Mustang leaks continue

Yet more images of the all-new pony car outed hours before its official world debut

Update, December 5: Time magazine is the latest publication to leak more images of the new Mustang. The vehicle's design  was supposed to be kept a secret until 4:00pm this afternoon, ahead of a multi-million dollar global reveal that will take place later on at 11:00pm in Sydney, and simultaneously in five other cities around the planet, including New York, Los Angeles, Dearborn, Barcelona and Shanghai.

The new photos provide a clearer view of the new car than the images leaked by Autoweek magazine the day before, showing off the car's classic fast-back rear end and a new reinterpretation of the Mustang snout. Stay tuned for official details at 4:00pm.

First images of Ford’s sixth-generation Mustang have been leaked across the internet after they were published in the December 9 edition of Autoweek magazine and posted by US website SVT Performance Forum.

Under embargo until the all-new 2015 Mustang’s simultaneous world debut in six cities including Sydney tomorrow night, the images confirm as accurate earlier renderings from US websites Car&Driver and MustangsDaily.

The images show an evolutionary new look for the Mk6 Mustang, which was previewed by the 2011 EVOS concept and will be the first produced in both left- and right-hand drive form for global markets.

That includes Australia from 2015, the year before Ford Australia ceases Falcon production.

As we’ve reported, the next Mustang is expected to be available here priced from under $45,000 with a turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, although, of course, a 5.0-litre V8 will also be on offer.

Full official details will not be announced until tomorrow night, but the Autoweek spread reports the new coupe is 90kg lighter than before, thanks in part to the fitment of aluminium front guards.

According to the AutoWeek report, the new Mustang will also come with selectable drive modes and keyless push-button starting as standard across the range.

Stand by for the first official images at 4:00pm tomorrow (December 5), followed by the first official details at 11:30pm.
