Ford Ranger V6 wait times hit 12 months

Scrap the Premium Pack and your Ford Ranger V6 could be here sooner; four-cylinder utes ready and waiting

High-end Ford Ranger ute models have followed the lead of the new Ford Everest SUV and will now take a year to be delivered, with Ford Australia nominating Q4 2023 for all new Ranger Wildtrak V6 and Ranger Raptor orders.

As seen in the lead-up to the new-generation Ford Ranger’s launch, the problems stem from overwhelming demand for highly specified V6 models and the optional Premium Pack that adds a 10-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system, Matrix LED headlights and an accessory switch control panel for an extra $1500.

In a statement on its website, Ford said it was experiencing “very strong demand for the optional Premium Pack on the Next-Gen Ranger Wildtrak, which will take some time to work through”.

It added: “If customers choose to remove the Premium Pack from their order, they will be able to take delivery of their Ranger sooner.”

Exactly how much sooner is unclear, but another option would be to opt for the four-cylinder twin-turbo diesel version which, along with XLT and Sport models with this engine, is in plentiful stock.

Another alternative for those who don’t fancy waiting a year for their new vehicle would be to drop down a grade and order a Sport V6, new orders for which are due to be fulfilled in March.

It’s a similar story with the XLT Cab Chassis V6, however the Blue Oval is warning the pricing and specifications of ordered vehicles could change between now and their arrival.

“If you have an existing order please contact your dealer who will be able to keep you up-to-date on your vehicle’s arrival,” the company said.
