Ford recalls 38,000 vehicles

Potentially faulty power windows trigger a recall for Ford Everest and Transit van

Ford Australia has recently issued a recall for 38,423 Everest and Transit Custom vans, built between 2022 and 2024.

According to the recall notice, the electric windows could harm body parts, such as arms, in certain scenarios.

“Due to a software issue, if a vehicle occupant places an obstruction such as a body part in the window space when the driver or passenger side windows are closing, the auto reverse function may not operate until significant pressure is applied,” reads the recall statement.

“If the driver or passenger side window auto reverse function does not operate as intended, it can increase the risk of serious injury to vehicle occupants,” explains the car-maker.

Anyone who owns one of the affected vehicles will be notified in writing and will be encouraged to contact an authorised Ford Dealer to set up an appointment.

The faulty software will then updated to fix the issue, free of charge.

Ford has a customer relationship centre that can be tapped for further information on 133 673.
