Ford Australia has announced a new ‘EV Charging Package’ in collaboration with Evie Networks for both current and prospective electric vehicle (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) owners to help enhance the zero-emissions vehicle ownership experience.
Available to order online from $2580 or via an authorised Ford EV dealership, the pack includes a Teltonika Teltocharge 7.4kW single-phase wallbox, 5m tethered cable with Type 2 connector and a smartphone app that enables remote charge scheduling, monitoring and control.
A $400 public charging credit is also included in the price for early-adopters, and customers will be able to up-spec their home charger to 22kW – pending three-phase power availability – and/or integrate it into their home solar systems for an extra $300 (each).
The move comes as Ford’s local electrification strategy continues to build steam before the arrival of the Puma EV and Ranger PHEV.
“When living with an EV, having a home charger installed makes life so simple. You simply drive it each day and plug it in at home like you would a smartphone,” said Ford Australia electric vehicle general manager Myles Hartley.
“You get all the benefits of having a fuel bowser in your garage, able to fill up your car cheaply and easily overnight.”
Ford Australia’s current electrified vehicle range comprises the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV and the E-Transit electric delivery van, following the axing of the Escape PHEV last year.
Evie CEO Chris Mills said the new collaboration with Ford was a reflection of the EV market’s “continuous acceleration and innovation”, which is in turn driving positive change in the charging industry.
Ford is yet to confirm exactly when the Puma EV will arrive Down Under as the new entry point to its electrified model line-up, but it previously indicated a late 2024 introduction ahead of the Ranger PHEV’s release early next year.
