The first shipment of Australia’s newest one-tonne ute – the Foton Tunland - has arrived from China two weeks ahead of its official launch.
Gold Coast-based Foton Automotive Australia’s Director of Logistics Grant Phelan confirmed that 45 examples of the Tunland – including 4x2 and 4x4 versions in both Quality and Luxury trim levels – are now waiting customs clearance at the Port of Brisbane.
“As soon as the cars clear customs, they will be delivered Australia-wide to approved Foton Australia dealerships,” he said.
Potential buyers in Brisbane and Perth can already sample the big new Cummins diesel-engined Tunland, with demonstration vehicles now available to drive at recently appointed Foton dealers Motorworld and Perth Motorsport. Both dealers will be among the first to receive customer versions of the Tunland dual-cab, full Australian pricing and specifications for which will be revealed on November 12. Foton dealerships in Victoria, Adelaide and on the Sunshine Coast are also expected to have Tunlands available soon for test drives.
Meantime, FAA has also announced the appointment of Paul Vuko as its National Distribution Development and Operations Manager. FAA Director of Corporate Services Peter Llewellyn said Mr Vuko will identify new markets for future Foton light commercial and passenger vehicles in Australia, and engage with stakeholders to promote and sell the brand.
Mr Vuko has 30 years’ experience working in similar roles for various automotive brands. Most recently, as the General Manager (Sales and Dealer Operations) for Isuzu UTE Australia, he was responsible for establishing Isuzu UTE’s national retail network, which now includes 81 dealers and has targeted 9000 sales for 2012.
“Paul has held senior operations and sales roles with Holden, Isuzu GM, Kia Australia and Holden Special Vehicles,” Mr Llewellyn said. “Paul will assist us to grow the Foton brand and reach our sales targets.”
