FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW: Infiniti to debut Q30

Nissan luxury brand confirms September world debut for all-new small hatch – and it could be here this year

Infiniti has announced it will stage the world debut of its smallest model, the Q30, at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

The Japanese luxury brand's regional chief previously said the all-new compact hatch — which will rival the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Audi A3, BMW 1 Series and Lexus CT — could be fast-tracked for Australian release by the end of this year.

Nissan's premium brand provided no further information, but said the production Q30 — seen here wearing disguise in an official image for the first time — is currently undergoing validation and dynamic tuning in Europe, where it will go on sale in late 2015.

The Q30, which will make its production debut two years after the concept that previewed it was revealed at the same show, will be followed by an all-new small SUV to rival the Audi Q5, called the QX30.

Infiniti Australia will next month launch the hulking QX80 based on Nissan's Y62 Patrol, and the facelifted Q70 large sedan.
