Inspired by the winter harshness of freezing Antarctica, Jeep has thawed out the limited-edition Wrangler Polar for this week’s Frankfurt motor show, followed by an Australian release early next year.
Available in short-wheelbase two-door and long-wheelbase four-door (Unlimited) guises, the limited-edition Jeep is distinguished on the outside by unique paintwork -- punters can choose from either the striking Hydro Blue, Billet Silver Metallic or Bright White.
There’s also a body-coloured hard-top, revised grill with black accents, a hard wheel cover and 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels, while the bonnet also features a tri-coloured decal depicting the mountain ranges of the Arctic.
Polar badges denoting the coordinates of Vostok also grace the flanks of the off-roader and a special black fuel door has been sourced from Jeep’s accessory partner, Mopar.
The winter theme continues in the cabin, with black leather seats sewn together with contrasting Pearl White stitching, which continues onto the armrests and floor console lid. Polar decals are stitched to the uppermost parts of the seat backrests.
The instrument binnacle has also come in for a spruce-up, featuring a Polar logo with blue lighting, an all-new cluster overlay with Ceramic White finish that compliments the passenger grab handle. Mopar tread-pattern floor mats complete the interior.
Jeep promises that the Polar special-edition is more than just a tarted-up special, as it has fitted the limited-edition Wrangler with a Trac-Loc limited- slip diff to assist the standard off-road hardware when the terrain becomes er... icy.
First Australian deliveries will commence in the first quarter of 2014. Engine choices are yet to be confirmed.
