Maserati is set to unveil the Quattroporte Ermenegildo Zegna Concept at the Frankfurt motor show next week.
Based on the sixth generation Quattroporte executive express that is due to hit local shores in October, the powerful and luxurious 'four-door' Maserati is currently touted as a concept, but an Ermenegildo Zegna version of the limousine is slated for limited production run in 2014. The Quattroporte, developed in conjunction with the prominent Italian fashion designer, will feature distinctive paintwork that contains fine aluminium pigments designed to give the already imposing bodywork more visual depth.
Inside, the cabin is said to be inspired by Zegna’s latest range of men’s clothing and the seats, door trims and roof lining are swathed in supple leather and are complimented by soft, velvet-like cloth inserts. The interior colour scheme is made up of warm mocha browns and greys; all reminiscent of gentlemanly entire.
There is also, of course, the obligatory special edition branding which has been sewn to the inside of the sun visors.
Maserati has said the overall effect is “a play between the classic and contemporary.”
The manufacturer will confirm numbers of the special edition limo in 2014.
Should the limited edition model come to Australia, one of the local dealers selling it will be Solitaire Maserati, which is set to open its doors in the Adelaide suburb of Mile End from early next year. The new facility will be operated by the Solitaire Automotive Group, which is assuming responsibility for sales and service of the Maserati marque in South Australia from September 2 this year.
"Solitaire and the team lead by David Smoker and Bill Holst were our first choice for Maserati representation in South Australia," says Glen Sealey, General Manager of Maserati Australia, as quoted in a press release.
"Maserati is undergoing a transformation in its worldwide sales, as indicated by the fact that it is presently holding an order book for the new range of Maserati models that is three times last year’s entire worldwide sales. Maserati needed to know that it had a company in Adelaide that had the commitment to develop a facility for the state that was on a par with every Maserati dealership around the world and one with the management and team to provide the highest levels of customer service to deliver an eight-fold increase in Maserati sales in South Australia by 2016."
Maserati in Australia is anticipating massive sales growth with the introduction of the new Ghibli model due to arrive here in the second quarter next year. That and the Levante SUV are expected to lift local sales "ten-fold" by 2016.
