FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW: Volkswagen facelifts Golf Cabriolet
Updated Golf Cab shown ahead of German show. Gets new look, interior refresh and revised range of enginesVolkswagen has released a single image of its updated Golf Cabriolet ahead of its official launch at the Frankfurt motor show next month.
Look closely and you might spot the small drop-top gets a new front bumper, side sills and new wheel design.
Inside, the German car-maker claims there’s a new steering wheel and new rims and design options for the seats. The Golf convertible also gains VW’s most up-to-date infotainment system.
Under the bonnet is where you’ll find the biggest change with a full range of revised engines that are now all Euro 6 compliant for emissions.
We just get one engine, the 118kW 1.4-litre turbo that comes with a standard seven-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox.
As part of the Euro 6 updates power has been wound back to 110kW, but the small turbocharged petrol has had fuel consumption and emissions reduced from the current car’s 6.5l/100km and 153g/km of CO2 to 5.5l/100km and 128g/km.
It’s not known when we’ll get the updated Golf Cabriolet here, or if Volkswagen Australia will increase its base price from the current car’s $48,993 price tag.
