The man responsible for an official encyclopaedic book on the iconic 1971 Ford Falcon XY GTHO Phase III that sold out in a matter of hours, Ross Vasse, is about to release two fresh books detailing earlier examples of the Aussie classic.
Officially licensed by Ford, the new pair of Blue Edition books go back even further and are dedicated to the XW GTHO Phase I½ and Phase II, making them a must for any GTHO collector or motorsport enthusiasts.
The Phase III GTHO was raced by Aussie motorsport legends like Allan Moffat and Pete Geoghegan and Vasse’s previous book detailed the Bathurst-winning touring car that made headlines in the early 1970s when it was regarded as the world’s fastest four-door production sedan.
Now available to pre-order online, each new GTHO reference book includes the build specification details for every single GTHO built, including each car’s paint colour and trim combination, factory options, final assembly and retailed dates and unusual build anomalies, plus one-off Falcon GTHOs.
The ‘definitive GTHO bibles’ are said to include many never-seen-before period photographs and each book is said to be filled with information known previously only to insiders, where “mysteries are solved, myths are busted, and secrets are revealed”.
“This is the most comprehensive work ever completed for this marque, one that tells the story of the fastest four-door production sedan in the world, about the men who created, built, drove and race them when they were new,” says the publisher.
Of the first official GTHO Phase III book, carsales former technical editor Ken Gratton said: “Vasse has published the 1971 Ford Falcon XY GTHO Phase III register, a compendious book that provides the lowdown on practically every aspect of the flying Falcon.
“In short, this is a fantastic book: well made, lovingly presented and printed on quality stock by a local company.”
The new Ford Falcon GTHO registers are scheduled for release on November 30, 2022 and due for delivery before Christmas at a cost of $275 each, or $499 for a double-pack.
