The Jaguar E-Type is indisputably one of the most stunning cars, of any description, ever created.
And that’s especially true when they’re in concours-winning condition following a complete restoration, let alone only showing 1530 miles on the clock.
That’s what you get with this exquisite 1974 Jaguar E-Type manual listed on carsales.com.au for an entirely justifiable $300,000.
One of the last E-Types ever produced, this particular example is a Series 3, which means it’s powered by a 5.3-litre V12 petrol engine instead of the earlier models’ straight sixes, developing 197kW/412Nm and driving the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox.
V12 E-Types were capable back in the day of hitting 100km/h in less than seven seconds, on their way to a top speed close to 240km/h, with the extra torque compared to the six-cylinders making for radically improved in-gear performance.
With its low kays, full service history, documentation and restoration under its belt, it’s quite possible this particular car could still hit the tonne in less than seven seconds, especially with the help of modern tyre technology.
Finished in a stunning gloss black paint job paired with a cream leather interior, the vehicle was originally listed for $375,000, and while there are a few other V12 E-Types listed for sale on carsales, this one is certainly a shining example of the breed.
The contrasting colour scheme isn’t far off the black and cinnamon combination applied to the 50 commemorative examples produced later in 1974 before E-Type production wound down for good in June that year.
“In concourse condition, this is a best-in-class example of a Series III E-Type V12 manual,” the seller said in the description.
“This iconic car has been restored to the highest possible standard with genuine parts and accessories in an immaculate, much-loved condition with a full service history and very low 1530 miles.
“The owner has undertaken a loving restoration on this E-Type with no expense spared.”
