Full-size 2026 Geely Galaxy M9 PHEV priced

Plug-in six-seat SUV blends massive proportions with medium SUV pricing and could see it rival the likes of the BMW X7 or Mercedes-Benz GLS

Geely Automobile has announced that its new flagship 2026 Geely Galaxy M9 will be priced from just 250,000 yuan ($A54,400) when it goes on sale in China later this year.

Already on Geely Auto Australia’s radar for an introduction Down Under, the full-size Geely Galaxy M9 measures in at a huge 5205mm long, 1999mm wide and stands 1800mm tall, with a 3030mm wheelbase.

Just 4mm shorter than the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the M9 is said to offer best-in-class cabin space, with the interior adopting a 2+2+2 layout.

Created to pinch customers from, not only the GLS, but the BMW X7 and smaller family-friendly SUVs like the Volvo XC90.

Within, the M9 gets a striking cabin design centred around an enormous 30-inch infotainment system. There’s no instrument cluster, Geely offers an augmented head-up display, instead.

The centre console features wireless phone chargers and a pair of cupholders that can be slid all the way back to the second row freeing up space.

Another 30-inch touch-screen drops from the ceiling in the second row, providing those perched in the pair of captain chairs front row seats to stream movies.

The third row of seats can be reclined up to 150 degrees for sleeping, while options like a 91-litre refrigerator and powerful premium sound system should all provide its luxury rivals a real threat.

Powering the Galaxy M9 is Geely’s latest EM Hybrid 2.0 powertrain that combines a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo, that produces 120kW alone, with two e-motors.

Total power is expected to exceed 390kW, with the 0-100km/h sprint demolished in just 4.5 seconds.

With an undisclosed battery likely to provide an all-EV range of around 150km, the new Galaxy M9 can drive a total 1500km on a full charge and brimmed tank, while averaging 4.8L/100km.

While Geely has confirmed initial pricing for the Galaxy M9, according to CarNewsChina, cheaper versions of the big Geely could drop the pricing further to around 209,900 yuan, which equates to around $A45,000.

Sadly, take both prices with a pinch of salt as no doubt if the full-size plug-in hybrid SUV is one of the six new vehicles that have been promised to arrive in Australia from now until 2028. The Galaxy M9 will no doubt cost significantly more. Although, in it its home market, Geely has priced the Galaxy M9 well below almost all its local rivals from Chinese brands.

Only formed by Geely back in 2023, the car-making giants electrified brand (hybrids and EVs) has sold an astonishing 397,125 cars from January to June 2025 in China alone.
