Full specs: Ford 2015 Ranger

Class-leading safety tech optional and reverse camera standard only on Wildtrak

Ford Australia has revealed full model-by-model specifications for the upgraded PX MkII Ranger that will be officially released on September 1.

However, the list of first-in-class safety technologies remains optional across the range including for the top-shelf Wildtrak, the fully-loaded price of which could top $70,000.

And while Toyota has announced a reversing camera will be standard across its new HiLux range due in October, the potentially life-saving technology will be standard only in the Ranger Wildtrak.

Two TDCi turbo-diesel engines will continue to be available: a 147kW/470Nm 3.2-litre five-cylinder and a 118kW/385Nm 2.2-litre four, both available with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The model line-up will range from the entry-level 4x2 Single Cab Chassis 2.2-litre TDCi to the range-topping 4x4 Wildtrak Double Cab Pick-up 3.2-litre TDCi. The 2015 model range continues with XL, XL Plus, XLS, XLT and Wildtrak.

A class-leading towing capacity (3500mm), wading depth (800mm) and ground clearance (230mm) continues on 3.2-litre 4x4 models, but technical upgrades include revised suspension, an electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) system and cable-shift manual transmission.

New XLT and Wildtrak features (not fitted to lesser models) include SYNC2 infotainment with 8.0-inch touch-screen, Navigation with Traffic Management Channel, Projector headlights, dual colour 4.2-inch instrumentation screens and a cargo light (when a sports bar is fitted).

Other new equipment includes Adjustable Speed Limiter, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Auto Stop/Start on manual transmission (4x2 Hi-Rider and 4x4 models) and a 230-volt Inverter (Double and Super Cab models).

Included in the Tech Pack Option for XLT and Wildtrak models is Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Impairment Monitor and a reversing camera (standard on Wildtrak).

All new Rangers will come with new trapezoidal grille design, new headlights and recessed driving lights.

Seven paint colours will be available, including new Aluminium and Pride Orange prestige hues, but only two solid colours – Cool White and True Red.
