Fully-loaded 2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI now sub-$60K drive-away
End of financial year deal will save buyers more than $8000 on fully-optioned versions of iconic hot hatchVolkswagen Australia has injected more than $8000 of value into its volume-selling hot hatch for the end of financial year as it seeks to clear stocks of the current VW Golf GTI.
The 2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI is normally priced from $56,090 plus on-road costs, but until June 30 it can be had with the usually optional Luxury Package ($4000) and Sound & Style Package ($2600) for just $59,990 drive-away – rather than the $62,690 plus ORCs it would otherwise cost.
Included in the Luxury Package is a panoramic glass sunroof, Vienna leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, electric driver’s seat with memory and a heated steering wheel, while the Sound & Style Package adds 19-inch alloys, a head-up display and a Harman/Kardon premium audio system.
The $6600 worth of extra equipment combines with the waived on-road costs to save upwards of $8000 in some states and territories, given the drive-away price is being offered nationally, with Sydney-based customers scoring a $7990 discount by the time the GTI is in their garage.
“Increased production availability of the Golf GTI allows us to finally meet the demand for our quintessential hot hatchback, and we want to accelerate its appeal with a special, fully loaded $59,990 drive-away offer,” said Volkswagen Australia passenger vehicles boss Michelle Rowney.
“The Golf GTI doubled its sales last year compared with 2022, emphasising how this Volkswagen is still going from strength to strength.”
The promotion puts the fully-loaded GTI pretty much on par with the equivalent Hyundai i30 N Premium with Sunroof automatic (from $53,700 plus ORCs) – one of just three remaining rivals – though the Hyundai still has an output advantage.
The current Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine developing 180kW/370Nm, sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and limited-slip differential.
However, the GTI’s peak power figure will increase to 195kW when the facelifted version arrives early next year.
