Garage 41's shrine to Aston Martin

Centre stage for the show’s studio segments, the piece in question looks like some automotive vandal has cut up a Le Mans-winning classic Aston Martin race car.
In fact, it’s a 1:1 scale artwork that was created by Ant Anstead of Wheeler Dealers and For the Love of Cars fame.
We quizzed Ant on the piece, which he calls an ‘Airfix’, after the well-known plastic model aeroplane kits.
“What do you wanna know [about it]?” Ant replied via Twitter.
“I made it many YEARS ago. It sat on display at the @goodwoodrevival by the GRRC members tent (I also made a load of bits inside there).
“Then Bonhams put it under the hammer. Was a tribute to the 1959 Le Mans win in the style of @Airfix [and it] still looks great.”
The car depicted in artwork is the Aston Martin DB1-R, which was driven to victory in the classic French 24-hour race by Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori.
Which brings us to Anstead’s favourite part of the installation, which is a little hard to see, but is in the top left-hand corner. The icon is a hat signed by both Shelby and Salvadori.
