The Finer Details

Geely has outlined the key specifications of its Emgrand L EM-i sedan ahead of a formal announcement at Sydney's Everything Electric Show, which runs from September 18 to 20.

The mid-size sedan is expected to serve as a rival for electrified passenger cars such as the Toyota Camry, while broadening a local Geely range currently dominated by SUVs.

Dimensionally, the Emgrand L EM-i measures 4790mm long, 1860mm wide and 1490mm tall, while riding on a 2750mm wheelbase. Geely is also claiming more than 500L of luggage capacity.

Power comes from the company's EM-i plug-in hybrid system, paired with an 18.4kWh battery. Geely is targeting outputs of more than 180kW and 250Nm, with an electric-only driving range exceeding 80km under WLTP testing.

Combined driving range is claimed to be more than 1000km, allowing the sedan to undertake long-distance trips without frequent charging stops.

Inside, the Emgrand L EM-i features a 14.6-inch HD infotainment touchscreen paired with a 10.2-inch digital instrument display. Other highlights include power-adjustable front seats and an eight-speaker sound system.

On the outside, the sedan adopts a large 'waterfall' front grille, full LED lighting with claimed illumination coverage of more than 170 metres and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Australian buyers will be offered a choice of five exterior colours, while two variants are expected to be available at launch.

The specification closely aligns with the vehicle previously driven by carsales in China, though final local specifications are yet to be confirmed.

The Road Ahead

Formal confirmation of the Emgrand L EM-i's Australian launch will be made on the opening day of the Everything Electric Show in Sydney on September 18, where the sedan will be displayed alongside additional upcoming Geely models.

The plug-in hybrid sedan is scheduled to arrive in Australian showrooms during the first half of 2027, with pricing and full local specifications expected to be announced closer to launch.
