Hyundai's premium brand, Genesis, has been caught filming its all-new G70 sports sedan ahead of its full unveil next week.
The rear-three-quarter view, captured by Instagram user the_koreanbeast, gives us our first glimpse of Genesis' BMW 3 Series competitor.
While not great quality, the image does capture the rakish four-door coupe design with twin oval tailpipes, large red brake callipers and dominant front wheel-arch vents. All of this alludes to a sporty package for the G70, which is due for global rollout in the fist couple of months next year.
We already know the G70 is based on a version of the rear-wheel drive platform employed by the Kia Stinger, with which it was developed in parallel and shares components including its powertrains.
While the medium-large Kia liftback will be first to market (October in Australia), the mid-size G70 sedan is shorter, lower, narrower, rides on a shorter wheelbase and, claims Hyundai, will be very different in character.
Thanks to its smaller proportions, the G70 should be much lighter – and therefore faster -- than the Kia Stinger.
Powered by the range-topping 270kW/520Nm 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6, the G70 should be capable of a 4.7-second dash to 100km/h.
Inside, from earlier spy photographs we know that the G70 will come with a high-quality interior and in the latest pic it features quilted leather and plenty of brushed aluminium, showing the Genesis should be the measure of its German rivals for style.
The G70 not only looks the part but it should be a match for the BMW 3 Series when it comes to driving. The small sports sedan has undergone extensive Australian chassis tuning on a variety of local roads.
