Genesis GV60: Full Australian details

Launch range pricing and specs for first electric car from Genesis emerge ahead of September debut

Less than a week after pricing was uncovered, Genesis Australia has detailed its forthcoming 2022 Genesis GV60 line-up ahead of its September arrival in local showrooms.

As reported last week, the Genesis GV60 small SUV will arrive Down Under with two dual-motor all-wheel drive models priced from $103,700 and $110,700 plus on-road costs.

However, the variant names have changed slightly, dropping the Lux prefix to now simply be known as AWD and Performance AWD.

Included in the price of both GV60 models is the choice of either a five-year Chargefox subscription or a home AC charger and installation.

As expected, both models will share the same highly specified standard equipment list, the main differences resting with additional power/higher performance and a few extra chassis goodies on the flagship.

The GV60 AWD has a maximum output of 234kW/605Nm while the Performance version ups the ante to 360kW/700Nm when using its Porsche Taycan-style Boost mode, a feature that yields a 4.0-second dash from 0-100km/h.

Not using Boost mode drags the time out to a still-fast 4.6 seconds, however an official claim for the standard AWD remains to be seen. We expect it to be around the 5.0sec mark as per the similarly powered Hyundai IONIQ 5 AWD.

A 77.4kWh battery pack gifts the GV60 an effective driving range of between 466-470km depending on the model, with both versions able to disconnect the front motor to save mechanical drag.

Even when operating in AWD mode, the powertrain is biased towards rear-wheel drive for sporty dynamics.

The Performance AWD goes a step further with the standard fitment of a limited-slip rear differential and Road Preview adaptive suspension.

All of this power and dynamic goodness is why Genesis has heralded the GV60 as its “most athletic” model to date.

Long equipment list

Stepping inside the 2022 Genesis GV60, drivers are greeted by quilted Nappa leather seats, leather for the dashboard, door trim and centre console, suede headlining, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with an integrated sat-nav display, crystal sphere gear selector, a 12.3-inch infotainment system, digital wing mirrors, a head-up display, power-adjustable and heated multi-function steering wheel and a wireless charging pad.

Those front seats are both heated and cooled and have 18-way power adjustment – and a massage function – for the driver and 12-way adjustment for the passenger.

Other feature highlights include heated rear seats, dual-zone climate control, smartphone mirroring, a powered tailgate, a 17-speak B&O sound system, multi-connection Bluetooth compatibility, live traffic updates, a glass roof, active noise control, active sound design, fingerprint authentication system, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities and plenty more.

The AWD version rolls on 20-inch alloy wheels and sports full LED exterior lighting while the Performance AWD has 21-inch hoops and black brake callipers.

Headline safety equipment extends to autonomous emergency braking (AEB), blind spot view monitor, blind spot collision avoidance assist, evasive steering assist, safe exit assist, multi-collision braking system, adaptive cruise control and a front-centre airbag.

According to Genesis Australia chief Connal Yan, the GV60 marks the start of the brand’s electrification journey, with more zero-emissions models to follow.

“In an exciting year for Genesis, GV60 will be the first of three EVs to launch locally in 2022, and will be closely followed by Electrified G80 and Electrified GV70,” he said.

“GV60 applies the Genesis Athletic Elegance philosophy to provide an unprecedented luxury experience on a new dedicated electric platform that delivers all the powerful, emissions-free benefits of an advanced long-range, ultra-rapid charging EV.”

Those ultra-rapid charging capabilities stem from the 800V architecture that can see the GV60 be charged at up to 350kW where available. The car-maker claims a 10-80 per cent charge can be completed in as little as 18 minutes.

Like all Genesis products, the GV60 is backed by a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty. It also comes with an eight-year battery warranty and five years of complimentary servicing.

How much does the 2022 Genesis GV60 cost?
AWD – $103,700
Performance AWD – $110,700
*Pricing excludes on-road costs
