The upcoming Genesis GV80 has been leaked ahead of its official reveal.
The fledging car-maker’s first SUV was originally due to touch down in Australia this year, however, delays continue to push back its arrival date.
There was speculation the GV80 would debut on the stands of last month’s LA motor show, but now an Instagram post from Allcarnews has purportedly revealed the finished product without any camouflage.
Parked up in what appears to be a storage or testing facility, the GV80 borrows design cues from the freshly facelifted G90 sedan.
Genesis hasn’t confirmed whether the images are a true reflection of the production model, but the vehicle in question also shows strong parallels with the GV80 Concept first revealed at the 2017 New York motor show and in recent spy shots.
There are also some glimpses of the interior, which again bears resemblance to the GV80 along with the G90 sedan.
The dashboard is dominated by a large wide-screen display, matched by what looks to potentially be a digital instrument cluster for higher spec models.
There is speculation the GV80’s debut has now been slated for the New York motor show in April.
It will be based on the same rear-wheel drive platform as the G80, sharing mechanical components including its V6 engine.
When it does finally arrive, Genesis’ first SUV will do battle with the likes of the Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q7, BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Volvo XC90.
The Genesis GV80 will join the mid-size Genesis G70 sedan (from $59,300 plus on-road costs) and the large Genesis G80 sedan (from $68,900 plus ORCs), both of which finally landed in the Korean luxury brand’s sole dealership in Sydney in June.
It will be followed by a smaller mid-size SUV to battle the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
