An even hotter version of the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Concept hypercar has been revealed for the Gran Turismo video game franchise.
Known officially as the 2024 Genesis X Gran Racer Vision Gran Turismo Concept, the aggressive speed machine made its global debut this week at the Busan International Mobility Show, underscoring the Korean luxury brand’s commitment to entering the high-performance vehicles arena and, in turn, reaffirming suspicions it has a flagship hypercar in the works.
The most obvious enhancement over the Gran Berlinetta is the Gran Racer’s LeMans-style aero package, which comprises an extended carbon-fibre splitter, canards, enlarged rocker panel, full-carbon rear wing, roof turret and huge rear diffuser.
Other performance-enhancing design features comprise active aero flaps around the body, carbon vents on the front guards and a completely flat underbody.
All this visual and aerodynamic drama is backed by a monstrous 1148kW/1425Nm V6 petrol-electric hybrid system, the internal-combustion element of which is said to be capable of revving to 10,000rpm.
These outputs mark power and torque increases of 361kW and 88Nm respectively over the already-potent Gran Berlinetta, however, no official performance claims have been published so far.
Inside the cabin you’ll find a stripped-out version of the Gran Berlinetta’s interior, with leather and brushed aluminium replaced by acres of Alcantara and carbon-fibre, alongside more aggressive lightweight seats, race harnesses and an all-new racing steering yoke.
“The Genesis X Gran Racer Vision Gran Turismo Concept was unveiled for the first time today at the Busan International Mobility Show 2024 (BIMOS), highlighting the brand’s bold leap into the realm of high-performance luxury mobility,” said Genesis.
“With the X Gran Racer VGT Concept being a part of the high-performance Genesis Magma program, today’s event marked the first time that a Magma vehicle was shown to the Korean public.”
There’s no word yet on whether either of the X Gran concepts will enter production, but there are certainly growing expectations that some sort of Genesis supercar is in the works, following the release of the production-spec GV60 Magma hi-po electric SUV and G80 EV Magma electric performance sedan.
