Coinciding with the debut of the production-spec GV60 Magma, Genesis has revealed a stunning new supercar concept as a “symbolic foundation” of the “next decade of performance” – or in English, what it hopes to do.
Details of the Magma GT are about as abundant as hen’s teeth right now, but it sure does look a whole lot more production-ready than the numerous X Berlinettas that came before it, even if they’re two completely different sorts of vehicle.
Unlike the front-engine, cab-back Berlinettas, the Magma GT is a purpose-built mid-ship supercar designed to be as dynamically capable as possible as a road car to then give it the best chance at success on the track.
However, where other brands make their cars as lightweight, pointy, and savage as possible, Genesis has gone down a different route.

“It isn’t defined by raw aggression or uncompromising speed – it is defined by balance,” Genesis design boss Luc Donckerwolke said.
“This is a car that feels instinctively connected to its driver, composed under pressure, and meticulously tuned so that every component serves a single purpose: to make performance effortless.
“The Magma GT doesn’t ask the driver to prove their skill; it enhances it.”

Odds are Genesis already has a couple of working prototypes being tested and developed at its tuning grounds behind closed doors, and Donckerwolke’s comments sound like they come from experience.
More details of the Magma GT will undoubtedly come to light in the coming months and years.
“The concept represents far more than a design study – it is the brand’s clearest expression yet of its commitment to its future high-performance capabilities,” a Genesis spokesperson said.
“The Magma GT concept aligns closely with… plans to develop the model into a performance icon, or halo car, and… enter the GT racing class.”
Genesis Magma Racing will compete in the premier class of the World Endurance Championship next year before debuting in the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) series in 2027 – we expect a 2028 or 2029 GT3 debut for the Magma GT.
