Genesis takes Hyundai up-market

Hyundai's new large car is inspired by BMW, Mercedes, Lexus and Cadillac

Hyundai will launch two new rear-wheel drive cars within the near future. One is the Tiburon replacement (more here) and the other is the subject of the pics shown here, the Genesis project.

The Genesis large car platform snapped by the vigilant spy photographers at Carparazzi is close to the final production version. According to Carparazzi, the new car's grille, which has metamorphosed through various styles, is now more or less set in concrete -- so to speak.

Likely to be fitted with an iDrive-style system, the new car looks about 5-Series size and takes its inspiration from Lexus and Cadillac, in the words of the Carparazzi blokes. In profile, there's a distinct current Mercedes look to it and we note the relatively low boot on the car.

Launch is anticipated for the third or fourth quarter next year.
