BMW has released its first teasing image of a glamourous stretched four-door version of its forthcoming 8 Series coupe.
Passing a striking resemblance to the Aston Martin Rapide, BMW isn't revealing details about the Gran Coupe version of the 8 Series other than posting a single image on its social media channels.
Under the skin the concept is expected to come with an even more powerful version of the BMW M5's twin-turbo V8 that, in standard form, pumps out a mighty 441kW/750Nm.
Combined with all-wheel drive and plenty of weight-saving carbon-fibre, expect the German car-maker to claim a sub-three-second sprint to 100km/h and a top speed of around 330km/h.
The more powerful engine could reappear in the forthcoming M5 Competition that BMW M is rumoured to be putting the finishing touches on.
As well as developing a Gran Coupe version of the 8 Series, BMW engineers are also readying a convertible that could be revealed later this year at the LA motor show in November.
