GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Ferrari 488 Pista revealed

Manic track-focused supercar offers more power, less weight

Ferrari has officially lifted the lid on the new 488 Pista supercar.

Offering a renewed focus on track driving in the same way the 458 Speciale did before it, the 488 Pista will arrive in Australian showrooms from the fourth quarter of 2018, priced at $645,000 drive away.

The Pista employs a wicked-up version of the donor car’s 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8. It also sheds 90kg in a dramatic weight shed.

In all, there is 530kW and 770Nm on offer – a 38kW/10Nm improvement on the regular 488 GTB.

Those figures make the Pista the most powerful Ferrari V8 in history, enabling a 0-100km/h time of 2.85 seconds and a 0-200km/h time of 7.6 seconds.

Supporting the added fire power is a suite of revised electronic driver aids, including an enhanced version of Ferrari’s Side Slip Control 6.0, an e-differential and a new braking assistance package called ‘Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer’.

Ferrari has also adjusted the car’s aero to suit, with changes to the car’s front splitter and the installation of a new S-duct familiar with Formula 1, drawing air from the underside of the nose and up through a giant vent in the bonnet.

Ferrari Australasia said it would release state by state pricing closer to the vehicle's local launch.
