The 2015 GTA Spano broke cover in Geneva today, showing off a new look and delivering more power than before thanks to an updated version of its Viper-sourced V10 powerplant.
Only 99 versions of Spania GTA's magnum opus will be produced and although no price tag has been attached to the Valencia company's supercar, expect the old "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" maxim to ring true.
Teased a week before its unveiling, the 2015 GTA Spano is being spruiked as all-new, but in fact it is a heavily upgraded version of the previous model, which was powered by an 8.4-litre V10 that belted out 582kW and 960Nm.
The new Spano gets a newer, more advanced supercharged 8.0-litre V10 that now produces a very serious 690kW and 1220Nm of torque, giving the carbon-fibre, titanium and graphene exotic a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 2.9 seconds.
Spania GTA reckons the new Spano has a top speed of 370km/h (230mph) which is incredibly quick, but nowhere near the new hypercar king, the Koenigsegg Regera, which can eclipse 450km/h.
The 2015 Spania GTA's mid-mounted V10 is hooked up to a seven-speed sequential gearbox and the car features adjustable suspension for those who enjoy race-track work.
Apart from the fire-breathing engine, the GTA Spano has two major claims to fame – its striking design inside and out and the extensive – and industry first – use of grapheme in its construction. The car maker says it has developed a new carbon monocoque chassis that is "unique among all the supersport car manufacturers, with innovate components such as titanium and graphene, which offers the best rigidity and lightness."
Graphene is said to be 100 times stronger than steel (by weight) but incredibly difficult to work with, so Spania GTA enlisted the help of Graphenano, another Spanish company savvy in the ways of the cutting-edge material.
As well as the chassis, graphene has been incorporated into the GTA Spano's bodywork and even its leather seats.
"Thanks to the collaboration between Spania GTA and Graphenano, the top Spanish company in graphene production, GTA Spano has become a laboratory that is working to introduce this new material into the automobile sector," asserted Spania GTA via its website.
"Nowadays both Spanish companies are extending the fields of action and research to introduce graphene into more components, which will be a reference material in the worldwide industry."
