MINI's biggest model, the Countryman has been given the John Cooper Works treatment.
Scheduled for display at the upcoming Geneva motor show, the Countryman will be the first JCW model to have all-wheel drive. It's also the first auto-equipped JCW model, offering the six-speed auto available as an option in versions including the new Roadster.
The JCW Countryman boasts a reworked 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine rated at 160kW, 18-inch wheels and aerodynamic kit. Previous JCW engine output was 155kW.
According to local MINI executives, the Australian market regularly takes up JCW offerings making it one of MINI's most important JCW outlets.
MINI Australia spokesman Piers Scott said his company was "currently evaluating the potential [of bringing the Clubvan] to Australia".
Also at Geneva will be the MINI Clubvan concept designed to embody "the vision of a premium small car with increased transportation capacity for business and leisure use."
The Clubvan will be the third two-seater from MINI after the new Roadster and Coupe. It is based on the Clubman but features 'blanked-out' side windows.
