GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Morgan supercar to be called Aero 8

Morgan’s Twitter feed confirms the name of its new supercar

Morgan has revealed a third teaser image and the name for its new supercar, which will make its world debut at next week's Geneva motor show.

Called the Aero 8, the new model will feature the curvaceous rear wheel-arches of other Morgans, as evidenced in this latest official teaser image.

From the other two images released we also know it will have a large grille, long bonnet and side exhaust outlets, and will be related to the existing Aeromax and Aero SuperSports models.

There’s no news what engine powers the new Aero 8 -- but we expect ‘8’ is a reference to the cylinder count, backed up by the recent video’s raucous V8 soundtrack.

It's possible the car will be a replacement for either the Aero coupe or the SuperSport hard-top convertible, which currently tops the brand's Australian range at $339,990.

If so, it will be the first new Morgan released since the Plus 8 Speedster in 2014. The Plus 8 is based on the same aluminium chassis as the Aero models and weighs less than 1200kg. All three modern Morgans are powered by a BMW-sourced 4.8-litre V8.
