GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Renault set to launch faster ZOE

Pure-electric supermini to get power hike, sadly Renault Sport have not been involved

Renault will unveil a more powerful version of its pure-electric Zoe at the Geneva motor show this March.

According to a source speaking to British mag, Autocar, the small Zoe's 67kW will be boosted by around 12kW, raising total power to around 80kW.

Renamed the ZOE R110 (110 for the horsepower it produces) the power increase is thought to come from a larger electric motor.

Created to be a replacement for the current model, rather than a sportier version, the latest power boost still leaves space for the car maker to introduce a production version of the mighty ZOE e-sport concept that was unveiled at last year's Geneva motor show.

That car delivered an incredible 340kW and was capable of hitting 100km/h in less than 3.2 seconds.

The ZOE R110 power (and torque) increase, is thought, will slash the current car's 13.2 second 0-100km/h time.

It's not known if the extra power comes at the expense of the range.

The current car can cover 400km between charges, thanks to its 41kWh lithium ion battery.

With the extra power a slight price bump is expected but all will be revealed at the Swiss show.
