The revised Renault Kangoo ZE (for Zero Emissions), said to be easier to distinguish from its internal combustion-powered sibling, has hopped into the Geneva motor show.
Featuring Renault’s new R-Link infotainment system, a modernised interior, a new front-end design, larger logo and blue-tinted lights -- a trademark of Renault’s four-strong ZE range -- the Kangoo ZE remains otherwise familiar to the existing model range, and is available in two chassis lengths and three configurations for up to five occupants.
Renault has moved Kangoo ZE’s charging point behind the new larger front logo, the model receiving its full charge in between six and nine hours depending on the method utilised. The model is also equipped with a ‘ZE Voice’ function that sees the otherwise silent-running model emit a sound between 1km/h and 30km/h to alert pedestrians as to its presence.
Bolstering those functions already offered in Renault’s new R-Link system, the Kangoo ZE now also provides its driver with a full suite of software designed to minimise running and energy consts. The Driving eco2 function, as its known, is integrated into the R-Link system analysing individual driving styles and offering personalised tips. It can even work with the TomTom satellite navigation system to find the least taxing route, advice on off-peak electricity rates, or the nearest place to recharge.
Not to be outdone by their all-electric counterparts, ICE-powered Kangoo models continue to be offered with a variety of drivetrain selections, including two diesel (Energy dCi 75 nd 90) and one petrol (Energy TCe 115) variants. The low-output diesel is capable of returning just 4.3L/100km on the combined cycle. All are fitted as standard with idle stop-start.
The Scenic-based Kangoo light commercial line-up now also offers the option of a front benchseat on all grades.
