Skoda will unveil a powerful 169kW version of its Octavia hatch at the Geneva motor show next month.
Called the Octavia RS 230, Skoda’s new special-edition hot hatch come with the same 169kW (230hp) turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that's already under the bonnet of the Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance hot hatch.
Like the powerful Golf, the Octavia RS 230 also gains a mechanical limited-slip differential that helps channel power more effectively to the road.
Producing 7kW more than the regular Octavia RS (and Golf GTI), the new RS 230 is a tenth quicker to 100km/h, reaching the benchmark in 6.7 seconds before topping out at 250km/h.
The new faster Octavia RS goes on sale in Europe this June and, according to Skoda Australia, is “likely, but not confirmed” to go on sale here late this year.
