A new variant of the Range Rover Evoque with a fettled petrol four will go on sale in Australia late next year.
Named the Evoque Autobiography Dynamic, the new addition to Land Rover's boutique range offers output of 210kW and 400Nm from its turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, and will make its formal debut in Geneva next month.
According to Land Rover Australia, the Evoque Autobiography Dynamic will lob here from the fourth quarter of 2015 as part of the 2016 model year update. The new variant will introduce chassis tweaks and programmed refinements for the ZF nine-speed automatic transmission.
Steering will be more precise on-centre, Land Rover claims, and the auto box will respond faster to driver input. In addition, the car's suspension will be revised by the fitment of firmer springs and recalibrated adaptive dampers. Active Driveline, which is optional for other Evoque variants, will be offered as standard with the Evoque Autobiography Dynamic and the brakes are enhanced with larger (350mm diameter) front disc rotors, and Torque Vectoring by Braking fitted as standard. Visual cues to set the Evoque Autobiography Dynamic apart from other Evoque variants include 20-inch forged alloy wheels, a distinct grille design and front apron, and jewel-like headlights and tail lights. A new metallic colour, 'Phoenix Orange', is also to be introduced with the new model year.
Interior fittings are largely as for the other Evoque models in the range, but the Evoque Autobiography Dynamic is upholstered in any one of six colours of leather, and customers may choose between premium or sports climate-controlled seats. The Autobiography logo is embossed on the headrests and the legend also appears on the illuminated door sills.
All Evoque variants will be upgraded with what Land Rover describes as 'connected car technologies', including 'InControl Apps' that combine with smartphone connectivity (via a USB lead) to deliver compatible apps from either iPhone or Android to the infotainment touch screen.
"The introduction of Land Rover InControlTM Apps together with the new range-topping Autobiography Dynamic, takes the Range Rover Evoque's core strengths a step further, bringing increased connectivity, desirability, luxury and dynamic ability to the already successful line-up," said Murray Dietsch, Director of Land Rover Programmes, as quoted in a press release issued this week.
In the same press release, Jaguar Land Rover UK Managing Director, Jeremy Hicks had this to say: "The Range Rover Evoque has been an enormous success in the UK with its blend of bold design, luxury and compact versatility. Demand remains strong two years after the start of production, and with the introduction of the Autobiography Dynamic, customers have more choice and access to a new heightened level of agility."
