Opel is banking in a big way on the trendiness and 'cut-through' of its Adam model, the car that fits within the footprint of the brand's other light passenger car, the Corsa.
For the upcoming Geneva motor show, Opel and its British offshoot, Vauxhall, will front up with a design study based on the Adam, with an amalgam of features aimed at delighting a broader cross section of motorists. Sitting on raised suspension, the Adam Rocks concept offers the style of a B-Segment SUV crossover such as Opel's own Mokka, but with a fabric folding roof. Inspired by parkour athletes, the concept rides 15mm higher and is 20mm wider than the standard Adam, and features the personalisation strategy Opel has chosen for the production model, taken to an extreme. According to the company's press material, the Adam offers over a million permutations of specification and trim.
“With even bolder design than any other ADAM, the ROCKS shows the vast potential for personalisation our stylish urban-chic newcomer offers. It combines the toughness of a crossover with the coolness of open air driving,” said Malcolm Ward, Opel Lead Design Director. “As a symbol for fashion-led, active drivers wanting to stand out from the crowd, ADAM ROCKS is just one possible answer to the question of how new development paths for this unique car could be forged.”
