GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Top 10 sexiest sports cars

We list the most lascivious cars from this year's Swiss auto extravaganza – the cat-walk of the car industry

Every year the movers and shakers of the automotive industry gather in Switzerland's famous capital — a cold, overcast and often icy place in autumn.

But step out of snow and rain and into the Palexpo exhibition building and things heat up… figuratively and literally!

The automotive eye-candy on display in 2017 was sweeter than ever, with more than enough concepts and production cars to attract crowds and even queues forming just to get a glimpse.

Herein we've compiled a list of the 10 sexiest vehicles from the 2017 Geneva motor show, an event that's seen its fair share of attractive models over more than a century of operation, with the first show taking place way back in 1905.

Ferrari should lose points for using stupid names – come on, Superfast? – but with an exotic exterior that's got more curves and swoops than the world's most famous racetracks, it's difficult to criticise the Ferrari 812 Superfast. The interior is a work of automotive art too, and that steering wheel… Be still my beating heart.

OK, so the four-soor AMG GT Concept takes the cake as one of the largest concept cars at the show, but Mercedes chief designer Gorden Wagener has done a sterling job of making it look appealing. The front-end is all aggression but the challenge with a design like this is getting the rear-end right, and this looks miles better than a Porsche Panamera.

Lamborghini Huracan Performante
Where Ferrari favours curvature, Lamborghini is all about sharp lines and angles. The Huracan Perfomante is a striking car both aesthetically – particularly its use of forged composite panels with an aluminium and carbon-fibre blend – and dynamically. Now, which colour is best: searing orange or blazing green?

Arguably the star of the 2017 Geneva show, the McLaren 720S takes car design to an astounding new level. The entire vehicle has been designed in a wind tunnel, which gives it an alien-spaceship appearance, and even the headlights have been designed to improve aerodynamics. It proves that function before form can create amazing visuals.

What happens when the future of performance cars collides with the past? A wonderful pastiche of the classic Ruf CTR from 1987, that's what! This 2017 Ruf CTR Yellow Bird is based on a highly advanced carbon-fibre tub, has a top speed of more than 360km/h but has a decidedly 1990s look.

It might be affordable and made in India, but this compact mid-engined sport car was designed in Turin and one of the surprise packages at the show. The game-changing Tamo Racemo turbo tiddler features a design that's equal parts Japanese Robotech and Indian ingenuity, with an interior to match. We cannot wait to see one of these cruising on the road!

The Porsche 911 silhouette has remained constant for decades and it's testament to the original design penned by Ferdinand Porsche in the late 1950s. Even today, the 911's curvaceous design that mimics the smooth curves of an athletic human body is striking. The latest GT3 takes the design to an aggressive new level, but this racer-for-the-road also brings a 368kW 4.0-litre flat six matched with a manual transmission.

Although technically it's still a concept car, we're aching for the Bentley EXP12 Speed 6e to reach production. If the next Continental has half of this prototype's visual attitude it'll be a winner for the UK brand, with its sleek roadster profile and elegantly integrated headlights. And the cream-on-red interior with diamond-quilted leather… Lordy lord!

Imagine what were to happen if the humble everyday station wagon (aka estate) was given an ultramodern makeover? Imagine no more – behold the Peugeot Instinct Concept! The French are always good value when it comes to concept cars and this one is low, sleek and remarkably menacing from some angles. It's also autonomous; who says robots can't be sexy?

It's not every day a car designed for a computer game – Gran Turismo – gets fabricated for a motor show. And it's even rarer – in fact it's never happened! – that a video game concept is green-lit for production. But that's exactly what's happened in the case of the Pininfarina Fittipaldi. This spectacular design made jaws drop in Geneva with its luscious kinks, bold air intakes and motorsport influences. Just 39 vehicles will be built, priced at around $1million a pop. We can dream…

GMS 2017 Vanda Dendrobrium

OK, OK, the Vanda Electric Dendrobium makes 11 cars, but it's such as a cool design with its jagged edges and reverse-opening doors and roof that it was a must-have for this illustrious list. A supercar supermodel that hails from Singapore – a place not usually associated with car design – adds a bit of extra spice, as does an all-electric powertrain. And with a name like the Dendrobium, which sounds like part of the brain (but is actually an orchid flower), this could be a car to put on your watch list.
